In broadcasting, at least on the level of radio, each day has a certain amount of surprises. Usually they are good!
Some days there are unpleasant events that take place, but that is life.
Today was truly a perfect storm. If you enjoy good treats and hip beats!
We started the morning off with Miracle Treat Day with Dairy Queen locations in Regina. Wherever you might live in Saskatchewan, you can help out! This Thursday, when you stop at your local DQ and purchase a DQ Blizzard you are helping out the Children’s Miracle Network.
These frozen treats maybe a once a year buy and that’s OK!
Derek and Cheryl Picton, who are part of the ownership group of 5 of Regina’s DQ’s, stopped into 620 CKRM with a round of Oreo Cookie Blizzards – SO GOOD!!!
Along with them the benefactors of Miracle Treat Day, Lynn Redl-Huntington from the Children’s Hospital Foundation. One Hundred Percent of the Proceeds will go to the hospital coffers.
I was enjoying the Blizzard, I just don’t “treat” myself with that kind of yummy-ness anymore. And just when you think its over along comes a rising star. Justin LaBrash from Lumsden stopped by to perform and with him a dozen FARM FRESH EGGS. And muffins!
When I met Justin he told me a crazy story about how many eggs it takes to pay for production time for one song! Those hens are busy and will remain so keepin’ up with this kid.
Justin and his mom, Laureen are doing a road trip to the East Coast next week, then dates in & around Regina.
Catch Justin this Saturday at Regina Beach.
If you can wait then be at a fundraiser in Regina on September 22nd. I’ll have more details right here. The Benefit is Wigs & Wine and will help Camp Circle of Friends.
There will be tapas and wine, music and stories and best of all you’ll be helping the Regina Downtowners Optimist Club help children.
Thanks Justin and the Picton family for making this a JACKPOT Thursday!
