The last time I sat at this computer was Saturday morning at about 7 A.M. I had just arrived at the station after a trip to McDonald’s where I grabbed breakfast for myself and our weekend newsie, Britton. After I gave Britton his breakfast, he hit me with the question of the day. “What are you doing here?” Considering I’m never here on the weekend, it was a very valid question. “I’m off to Arcola to celebrate a 100th Anniversary,” was my reply before diving into my breakfast and coffee.
By 7:30 I was on highway #33 making my way to Arcola. About an hour and a half later I pulled up at the Co-op in Arcola looking for Cindy. It was the 100th Anniversary of the Co-op in Arcola and seeing as Cindy Kolenz is the manager, I figured she’d be the gal to see to get me where I needed to be. I was directed to the Prairie Place Complex where all the days events would be happening.
They had a full day of activities planned that would start at 10 with a human foosball tournament and end in Prairie Place at 11 that night.
I couldn’t live in a small town, but I sure love to visit one. The people are always so laid back and friendly. It seems whenever there’s an event going on, the whole town chips in to help! That was definitely the case on Saturday.
Thank you to Cindy and the whole crew who made my day in Arcola a memorable one! It was fun to be a part of the celebrations!
