I can’t believe we’ve hit the end of August already! Where in the world did that summer go?
Summer vacation has come and gone. Craven has come and gone. Queen City Ex is in the rear view mirror. Three weeks tomorrow the Autumnal equinox will arrive, signaling the official end to summer. Yup, three weeks!
My wife and I will be getting away from home for a couple of days this weekend spending some sunny days with relatives. Looking forward to the beautiful weather, I actually caught myself thinking that we’d better take advantage of it because we might not have too many weekends like this left.
I was sitting on the deck yesterday playing fetch with Max and I realized that it won’t be long before I’m cramming stuff back into the shed for a long lonely winter. The deck beneath me was full of leaves, but I left the leaf blower right where it was sitting in the shed. I could have blown the leaves, but there would be just as many, if not more, the next day. At this point, keeping the deck free of falling yellow leaves is a losing proposition.
Oh well, it’s not like we haven’t faced this every single year.
It’s just that the first sight of September leaves me feeling a bit nostalgic for the great summer that has just passed us by. Let’s hope the looming winter passes just as quickly.
