It’s a sad reality that we all know somebody battling cancer. It’s even more sad that we likely know someone who has lost the battle. Brett Kissel stole the show at the CCMA’s last night with a touching performance dedicated to those fighting the fight. Brett actually stole the show more than once….. He was crowned the “King Of Canadian Country” winning the Male Artist of the Year and Fan Choice Awards.
Kissel’s new single, “I Didn’t Fall In Love With Your Hair”, features Carolyn Dawn Johnson and is bound to resonate with country listeners everywhere. Brett didn’t write the song, but it certainly has a special connection with him. Brett’s mom, Brenda, has battled cancer on numerous occasions.
“How my dad must have felt when my mom broke the news to him. Or how I would feel if Cecilia broke the news to me… That’s what the song is all about.”, said Kissel. “It goes to show that what’s inside is what matters. It’s arguably my favourite song on the record for a million different reasons.”
The new single is our “Farm Fresh Song Of The Day” and the response so far has been amazing. Have a listen and remember to vote on our homepage.
I’ve had the chance to meet both of Brett’s parents , and it’s no secret why he’s such a humble, hard working man.
Kissel has decided that with October being Cancer awareness month, he will donate proceeds from single sales to the Canadian Cancer Society . He will do so until October 28th and proceeds will be matched by W. Brett Wilson; an entrepreneur and philanthropist.
Brett Kissel is proof that hard work and being genuine goes a long way. Congrats Brett.
