A Warman man and liver transplant recipient is concerned about Saskatchewan’s low organ donation rates.
Fred Hofmann addressed the province’s Standing Committee on Human Services, which is holding public hearings on the issue.
Hofmann says less than one-percent of Saskatchewan residents are registered as an organ donor, the lowest rates in Canada.
He also raised concerns on a law exclusive to Saskatchewan that allows families of organ donors to veto their wish to donate.
The committee will hold one more day of public hearings in Saskatoon before writing a number of recommendations to improve the rate of organ donation, which will be presented at the end of November.
