Wet weather has caused harvest delays at the farm of Mathew and Crystal Frombach, this year’s third and final winner in the 620 CKRM country cook-out.
Crystal and Mathew farm with his dad and mom, Ron and Colette Frombach.
Ron Frombach says crop yields are wide ranging, from 80 bushels for malt barley to 12 bushels for peas.
He says one field of peas was severely affected by root rot.
He says canola is yielding about 50 bushels per acre and durum close to 60 bushels.
He says harvest could wrap in seven to ten days if weather stays warm and dry.
He says most fields in the area escaped this week’s frost.
But he says most fields are mature and frost would not cause damage.
The Frombach farm north of Edenwold, east of Regina, includes about 28 hundred acres.
