A STARS fundraiser has surpassed its last year’s total.
Five community and business leaders took part in the second annual Rescue on the Prairie fundraising event.
They were airlifted by STARS to a western-themed remote location where they competed against each other to raise the most funds using their phones and their personal networks.
Some of the challenges were a flight readiness race, a simulated medical scenario and a fundraising challenge to see who could raise the most money over the phone in a half hour.
Last year, over $440-thousand was raised and this year’s total was more than $516-thousand.
In Saskatchewan, STARS needs to raise 50 per cent of its operating funds to keep the Regina and Saskatoon base going.
