A new family room at the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan will provide a home-like environment featuring dining space, comfortable lounge furniture, and a large television.
VP of Corporate Affairs Tammy Van Lambalgen says a room like this makes all the difference in a family’s hospital trip for their child.
Her 3 year old daughter Ruby, needed to go to the hospital as a precaution after she breathed in chlorine.
Van Lambalgen says everyone has been touched by someone whose child is sick and in need, and this room makes the time with their child in hospital more bearable.
President & CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation Brynn Boback-Lane says in a regular hospital it can be very hard on a family to visit their child because of a lack of space, but this room can relieve that stress.
The Children’s Hospital Foundation is responsible for $75 million of the total approved construction budget is $285.2 million.
So far, they have raised $50 million as fundraising efforts continue
Construction on the hospital is about 25% complete and is scheduled to open in 2019.
