Mr. Hockey will be remembered for his contributions to the hockey scene in Saskatoon Sunday.
Gordie Howe and his wife Colleen’s ashes will be interred at the statue at SaskTel Centre.
The commemmoration comes as part of the Mr. Hockey Day celebrations organized by the Saskatoon Blades.
President of the Saskatoon Blades Steve Hogle says he is looking forward to Sunday when everyone gathers to remember one of the greats.
Also, as part of the commemoration, the Circle Drive South Bridge will be officially named after Gordie Howe.
Those expected to be in attendance include Gordie Howe’s family, as well as local hockey hall of famer Bryan Trottier, and opponents and teammates from Mr. Hockey’s past.
The celebration of Mr. Hockey gets underway at Noon.
