Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart has proclaimed October as Agriculture month in Saskatchewan.
He made the announcement at a Co-op Food store in Saskatoon.
This year’s theme, Our Food Has a Story, encourages farmers and consumers to talk about the passion that drives food production.
Stewart encourages farmers to tell their story.
He says farmers and consumers want the same thing: an affordable and safe food supply.
He says the farming industry needs to talk to consumers about shared values and decisions made every day to produce quality food to feed people in Saskatchewan and around the world.
There are four weekly sub-themes, including Health and Nutrition, Affordability, Food Safety and Sustainability.
Five individuals have been chosen to share their connection to food and agriculture, including a mommy blogger, a chef, a veterinarian, a dietician, and a grain farmer.
