Charges have been upgraded against a man accused in a bowling alley assault in Manitoba that left one person dead.
Police in Winkler say 29-year-old Justin Bird of Saskatoon is now charged with manslaughter.
He was initially charged with aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance.
Police said 25 year old Zachary Straughan, and another man got into argument over an unpaid debt at the Valley Bowling Lanes on Sept. 24.
Straughan was hit with a pool cue several times and knocked unconscious.
Straughan was taken to hospital in Winnipeg, but died from his injuries a couple of days after the attack.
