Sam Steel is having no problems re-adjusting to the Western Hockey League after being returned by the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks.
After registering a pair of goals in his first game back Friday, Steel had a career high 5 points as he scored twice and helped out on three others in a 7-2 win over the Red Deer Rebels.
It was the first time the two teams had played one another since a dramatic, hard-fought seven game Eastern Conference semi-final won by the Rebels in last year’s playoffs.
Other Regina goals came from Dawson Leedahl, Nick Henry, Austin Wagner and Braydon Buziak. For Wagner, it was his first in his first game with the team after being returned Saturday by the Los Angeles Kings, while for Buziak, it was his 4th as the rookie has scored in each game this season.
Regina is now 3-0-1-0 on the season, and will be back on home ice Friday night when the Kootenay Ice visit the Brandt Centre in a 7 o’clock puck drop.
