One of my pet peeves is people talking loudly on cell phones when in public, like anyone else really cares about how they spent their Saturday night.
Yesterday I made my usual stop at the grocery store and was in the produce section when I suddenly heard a loud, “hey, how are you.” It sounded like someone who ran into another person they knew in the store. After a while it was obvious that no one was coming back on the other side of the conversation, so the guy had to be on the cell phone. You could hear every word. He was talking about what a great time him and his buddies had at the bar on the weekend.
I’ve seen people on cell phones everywhere. The polite ones talk quietly, while the really polite ones tell the caller they’ll get back to them once they get finished what they’re doing. Some people though, this guy included, feel it’s necessary to talk loudly enough to let people know they have a life. Apparently they think it’s cool. Hey pal, it’s actually pretty uncool. It’s annoying.
I finally ran into this guy a few minutes later while he was wrapping up his conversation in the coffee aisle.
I did learn some things about his weekend. He was a little miffed that he had to call a few people Sunday morning before he could find someone to give him a ride to whatever bar his truck was parked at. Plus, his girlfriend was a little miffed at him for going out without her that night. She was one of the people who wouldn’t give him a ride to get his truck. So he was a little miffed at her. Apparently, Saturday night led to a lot of miffed people.
I was miffed that the guy couldn’t save that call until he got out to his truck!
