For the last couple of mornings I’ve actually used one of the inventions that I consider to be one of the best of the 20th century, at least in the winter. I tip my hat to you, oh mighty command start! What a wonderful invention. Years ago I remember running out to my vehicle in my sweat pants and firing up the engine in minus 30 weather. That, in a word, sucked big time. Okay, three words.
The remote car starter has actually been around for decades. I can only imagine how much one would have cost back in its infancy.
When the mob went bomb crazy for a while back in the 70’s and 80’s, mobsters would have the devices installed in their cars. I guess they figured it would be better to lose a brand new Caddy without sitting behind the wheel of it when it went kaboom!
I’m no mobster, but I’m not a fan of cold vehicles either.
So, to the inventor of the remote car starter, thank you.
You’ve made early winter mornings a lot more bearable.
