Saskatchewan farmers are being asked to sign a petition against the federal government’s carbon tax.
The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association has launched a petition against new carbon taxes on farmers and food.
Wheat Growers chair Jim Wickett says farmers actually put carbon back into the soil with modern farming practices.
Wickett is concerned the proposed carbon tax would hit farmers hard, raising prices for fuel and fertilizer.
He says a carbon tax would put prairie farmers at a competitive disadvantage with producers in the U.S. and Australia.
