Thousands of students across Saskatchewan cast their votes on Tuesday as part of the Student Vote program.
Elementary and high school students have been researching candidates in their cities and learning about the electoral process as part of the program.
The Student Vote program is being held as part of the municipal and school board elections, and encourages students to get into good voting habits.
“By starting now, hopefully by the time they turn 18, they’ll have that want to go out and vote,” said Tyler Redler, a teacher at St. Gabriel School in Regina.
More than 10,000 students from over 80 municipalities took part in the program.
