RCMP say an 11-year old student was secured in a classroom today with a knife at the Almightyvoice Education Centre on the One Arrow First Nation.
There were no other students present.
The school had been placed in lockdown by school officials.
Wakaw RCMP attended the school and successfully intervened with the student, making sure no one was injured.
The lockdown was then lifted.
The student was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and was taken by police, accompanied by family to the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert for assessment.
One Arrow First Nation Band Council members were present and were instrumental in delivering support and assistance to the family.
