Two Remembrance Day ceremonies will take place in Regina Friday morning.
The indoor ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Brandt Centre. People are asked to be in their seats no later than 10:15 a.m. as the ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. sharp. The venue’s doors open at 9 a.m.
An outdoor ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m. in Victoria Park, with the military parading past the Royal Canadian Legion Brand on Cornwall Street to the cenotaph at 10:35 a.m.
The services are held each year to pay tribute to veterans and soldiers who lost their lives while serving.
Herb Bechdoldt, a service organizer, said the event serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made for Canadians.
“It’s important that (Canadians) never lose (appreciation),” said Bechdoldt. “People get too confident in what’s going on (in Canada) and they forget to remain vigilant for the parts of the world that aren’t so nice.”
Donations will also be collected at today’s ceremonies, with funds going towards the Canadian War Memorials Fund, which looks after the graves of fallen soldiers across Canada.
