The government of Saskatchewan will be the first province in Canada to offer online training to foster families.
The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association and the government have put together web training with the help of video conferencing equipment donated by SaskTel Pioneers.
Deb Davies with the FFSA says the new online training provides a much needed convenience for foster families.
“This gives the opportunity to families to be able to stay within their homes, within their communities to access the training,” said Davies.
The first half of the program is available now to existing and potential foster families. The second half will be online in spring 2017.
There has been a decrease in foster families of 35 per cent in Saskatchewan over the past four years.
