Yesterday morning after my shower, I was standing at the bathroom counter getting ready with what seemed like 100 pounds of gel in my hand, all ready for application. Whenever that happens, there is only one solution. Time to get a haircut.
Whenever my wife goes to get a haircut I know our bank account will be $250 lighter and when she comes home her hair will look exactly the same as it did the night before. “It looks great” I say when she strolls through the front door ever so proud of how she looks. Inside I’m thinking, “You spent $250 for that?” There’ll be none of that for me.
When I need a haircut I just walk about a block and a half from the radio station to the Marvel Beauty School and see my friend Linda. Linda manages the school and has been in the biz for a long time. She lends her talent every year to make sure those hitting the stage at Telemiracle look great, whether it’s here in Regina or Saskatoon. She’s had a lot of heads in those tiny hands of hers.
Linda makes it quick and easy for me. It’s about half an hour from the time I walk in until the time I leave. Perfect. My wife is usually at her appointment for at least two hours. That works out to $125 per hour her hairdresser is pulling in! Nice work if you can get it. And, with my wife, she can!
My total? $25. That includes the tip.
Thank you Linda. I will see you again the next time the weight of too much gel in the palm of my hands is too much to bear!
