This morning on my way to work I happened to get caught behind the slowest driver I’ve ever gotten behind. For 7 or 8 blocks I was following a car with a licence plate that said “Palermo.” Well, if the guy was planning on driving there, it might take him a couple of hundred years. From Lewvan to Albert St., this guy was going 35 clicks, with a little weaving added in for good measure. It seemed to take forever.
At the intersection of 4th and Albert I was able to turn off, while Mr. Palermo kept on his somewhat straight path to wherever he was going. He might still be driving while I write this blog!
As I was heading south on Albert St. I noticed a glow of red and blue flashing lights in the morning fog. As I got closer I noticed at least six cop cars, one ambulance, and a tow truck. They were surrounding a car that seemed to be in bad shape right at the underpass at Albert and Saskatchewan Dr. Road conditions were pretty good, so I’m guessing this driver has not been paying attention to all of the anti drinking and driving news that has been making the headlines lately. I almost stopped and told the cops to be on the lookout for a car with “Palermo” licence plates!”
The rest of the drive in was uneventful. Some mornings a guy sure sees a lot of stuff going on.
It just reiterates what my dad told me all those years ago. “Nothing good happens after midnight.”
