The Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan has reached 33 per cent completion.
Concrete work is being finished up before crews start constructing a piece that will hang over the roadway, near the parkade.
Project Director Craig Ayers says it has been a challenging work site with the hospital surrounded by parkades and public traffic.
He says they have added implemented additional safety measures throughout the build.
“We pushed out some of the safety fencing to create a longer safety zone, so we’re sure that no parking, or pedestrians, or public are going to be near the building,” said Ayers. “You’ll see there’s some netting on the exterior of the building — that measure was put in place just in the event that some tools or debris fall from the construction site.”
One worker was killed earlier this year when a steel construction lift fell on him.
Ayers says the hospital remains on time and within it’s $285.2 million budget. The hospital is still expected to open in late 2019.
