Saskatoon police are investigating after a caller threatened a grocery store with guns and explosives in the Westmount neighbourhood Saturday morning.
Shortly after 11 a.m., staff at the Safeway on 33rd Street received a call from a man demanding cash and pre-paid credit cards. He threatened that if his demands weren’t met, he would call in people with guns and explosives to further press his demands.
The building was evacuated and officers checked to ensure there was no cause for alarm.
Police say the phone number the caller was calling from has been used for fraudulent scams in the past.
