Saskatoon Meeswasin MLA Roger Parent has been diagnosed with cancer.
The government of Saskatchewan released a statement on his battle against the disease:
Saskatoon Meewasin MLA Roger Parent has recently been diagnosed with cancer.
The diagnosis was unexpected – Mr. Parent sought medical attention after feeling unwell, and tests revealed the cancer is widespread.
Roger was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in the 2011 provincial election. He has served in a variety of capacities including on the Standing Committee for Human Services, the Standing Committee for Private Bills, and the Special Committee on Traffic Safety.
Prior to his election, Roger was involved in several community initiatives including the Saskatoon Homelessness Initiative Partnership, SREDA Aboriginal Economic Development Committee, Saskatchewan Committee on Aboriginal Procurement, Métis Nation – Saskatchewan.
