Well, the tree is up and the living room in the Lewis household is beautifully decorated to start off the new month! Thank you girls.
Yesterday afternoon I picked up my granddaughters at school and brought them over to decorate our Christmas tree. The payoff was supper, although they probably would have done it for nothing, but that could have been misconstrued as slave labour and I didn’t want to chance that at such a joyous time of year.
Yesterday after work I headed out and bought a whole new batch of Christmas ornaments and decorations. I figured a new tree warranted new stuff to put on it. My job was easy. I put the hooks in all of the new ornaments and handed them off to the girls who put them on the tree. The hard part was keeping my mouth shut whenever I noticed an ornament overload on a certain part of the tree, which didn’t happen often. They did a great job! When they were finished I topped things off with colorful garland. Seeing as the girls couldn’t reach high enough or around the back of the tree, I figured that would be my contribution.
Then the girls placed all of the decorations around the living room. The only catch was time. We wanted to have it done before grandma got home with supper. That was her contribution. She picked up supper and we did the heavy lifting! It all worked out wonderfully.
After supper we sat and watched some TV together until their mom picked them up at around 7:30.
Before last night the girls battle cry was “When can we set up the tree?” After that was set up, they started with” When will there be presents under the tree?”
That’s the most expensive part.
