The Regina Qu’Applle Health Region is inviting residents down to learn more about HIV on World AIDS Day.
An event is being held at 4:00 p.m., on Thursday in Victoria Park, as a way to educate and spread awareness for the disease.
Debbie Rodger, an HIV strategy nurse consultant for Saskatchewan says the most important thing people need to do is get tested.
“Now there’s good treatments, there’s good education around reducing transmission,” said Rogder.
Saskatchewan HIV rates are more than double the national average.
In 2016, there were 20 new reported cases of HIV in the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region.
