While the Dakota Access Pipeline construction protests are taking place south of the border, here at home, people are also taking a stand.
The “Saskatchewan Stands with Standing Rock” fundraiser, which will take place at the Exchange in Regina on Saturday night, will feature various local artists and vendors, along with a silent auction and door prizes.
Event organizer Selina Hogan says the night is symbolic.
“I think gathering (at the Exchange) symbolizes the community coming together and standing together to make a difference about something lots of people really believe in,” explained Hogan.
Based on the event’s Facebook page, more than 300 people are expected to attend.
All proceeds raised from the $10 cover charge will go towards helping the protest camps in North Dakota.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and runs until 3 a.m.
