Well, as I blogged about yesterday, I had a doctor appointment and the wait was just as I had predicted. It was even longer!
My appointment was at 11:45 yesterday morning and I thought I’d arrive a little early, as I always do. Usually I get to the office about a half hour early, but considering how long I end up waiting, I decided to get there a little closer to my actual appointment time. I rolled in at around a 11:30 and proceeded to wait and wait and wait.
When I arrived, the waiting room was packed with a lot of sniffing, coughing, and sneezing people. When I checked in, the receptionist asked if I was there for a cold or flu. There’s a sure sign that something is going around!
I really didn’t plan on getting in on time, but I was starting to get a little miffed when 12:30 rolled around and I was still sitting in the same chair. Then a lady sat next to me and started chatting. Her chatting was making the wait seem even longer. This lady, as nice as she was, just wouldn’t shut up. I found out all about her work, the operation her dog was having that day, how she wasn’t sure if she’d be able to pick up her dog on time after work, how she was going to be late for work because she was waiting for so long in the doctors office. Blah, blah, blah. I just don’t understand how some people can just keep talking and talking and talking. I felt like saying “Do you think anything you don’t say?” My wife would have been proud. I just nodded and smiled.
It didn’t help that 1 o’clock rolled around and I still hadn’t heard my name called. It had to be soon. The waiting room was now less than a quarter full. I counted 8 people who came in after me and got in before me. Why make an appointment? I might have better luck just showing up.
Finally, at 1:15, my name was called and I was led into my doctors office. Fortunately, that wait was only 5 minutes. In less than 5 minutes I was on my way back out. Two hours to get a stupid prescription filled and to check a couple of things out!
My doctor appointments are getting to be a lot more painful than my dentist appointments!
