Is there enough water in Buffalo Pound Lake to keep serving the people of Regina and Moose Jaw as both cities grow.
It is something discussed in Pense Wednesday night as a number of people turned out to talk about the issue and hear some presentations and solutions.
Roger Pederson, the past-chair of the Saskatchewan Irrigation Projects Association, was part of the meeting and says this is a serious issue and is one that can’t be put on the backburner.
Pederson says an increased use of water is to blame meaning the natural channel from Buffalo Pound to Lake Diefenbaker just can’t handle the load anymore.
Pederson adds most everyone in attendance knows of the problems that exist and that short-term and band-aid solutions need to be replaced by long-term solutions.
