The resort village of Manitou Beach has received an early Christmas present from the Mosaic Company.
The village, which sees over 150-thousand visitors come to its mineral spa each year, has been threatened by rising waters on Little Manitou Lake putting the spa and many other businesses, landmarks and properties at risk.
To help with the problem, Mosaic is donating 150-thousand dollars to help with flood prevention programs and establish an elevated berm.
Mayor Gerry Worobec says it is a present he wasn’t expecting, and is one his community definitely accepts with open arms as it will be a tremendous help.
Many Mosaic employees live in the area, so the company was more than happy to help out to improve not only the quality of life for its workers, but the community as a whole.
