Yesterday afternoon I picked our granddaughters up after school and brought them over to spend some time with grandma and grandpa before they come over Christmas morning. I had a feeling I knew what was going to happen before they got there and I wasn’t disappointed.
As soon as we got home and they saw all the presents under the tree, they started in with “Can we open some presents today?” No. “Just one?” No. “Please” No. You’ll have to wait for Christmas morning. Talk about feeling like a grinch! I know where they’re coming from. I did the exact same thing when I was a kid. I couldn’t wait to rip all of that wrapping paper off all of those gifts. Christmas morning couldn’t come soon enough.
My wife and I took the girls to McDonald’s for supper and then made a few stops on the way home. The minute we got home, they started again. “Are you sure we can’t open one gift?” No. “Please?” No, no, no, no! It had to be a barrage of no’s because one just wasn’t cutting it!
I was very happy when their mother finally picked them up because I was getting very tired of saying “no.” I hope they’re as excited about opening the gifts Christmas morning as they were yesterday!
Ahh, to be a kid at Christmas again.
This my last day at work until Tuesday.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
