One-third of Canadians who took part in a recent poll conducted by the Canadian Automobile Association admit in the last month, they have texted while stopped at a red light.
The survey of two-thousand Canadians suggests nearly 70 per cent of people believe using their phone at a red light is unacceptable, yet 33 per cent of respondents admitted to doing it.
In the meantime, the Saskatchewan government is sharpening up the language in our Traffic Safety Act.
The amendments will clarify the ban on using cellphones includes “holding, viewing or manipulating” them as well as “using” them.
The new rules go into effect on January 1, 2017.
