Hundreds of letter carriers are the victims of dog attacks each year.
Two recent attacks on the 1800 block of St. John Street, in Regina have prompted Canada Post to take action.
They have suspended mail delivery to the area until the matter is resolved.
Canada Post says a loose dog in the area attacked a mail carrier on December 16, and was aggressive to another employee carrying parcels, three days earlier.
“We are committed to finding a solution which balances the convenience of our customers and the safety of our employees. We will resume delivering in the neighborhood as soon as it’s safe to do so. We are working with Animal Protection Services to get this resolved as quickly as possible” said Darcia Kmet of Canada Post, in an email.
Residents who’s delivery service has been suspended can pick up their mail at the nearest Canada Post location.
