The Saskatchewan New Democrats says the government failed Saskatchewan people in 2016.
During a 620 CKRM NEWS year-in-review interview, NDP interim leader Trent Wotherspoon called out Premier Brad Wall and the SaskParty on what he calls dishonesty with residents.
Wotherspoon says the government let Saskatchewan people down with their failure to be transparent throughout the year.
He says he hopes the government will be able to manage its spending in 2017 to get control of its one billion dollar deficit.
Wotherspoon says that dishonesty has cost the province millions of dollars.
Shortly after this interview with CKRM News, Premier Brad Wall said public sector workers in Saskatchewan will be asked to help tackle the province’s 1-billion deficit in the coming year, potentially through wage rollbacks or layoffs.
In a press release issued after that statement, Wotherspoon says the government has made cuts to vital services, allowed the potential sell-off of SaskTel and hidden the true details of the GTH land deal.
Wotherspoon says he’s heard from people across Saskatchewan who are disappointed with their current government.
