The city of Regina, along with the provincial and federal governments, will be celebrating 2017 and Canada’s 150th birthday, Saturday afternoon.
Everything gets underway at noon, New Years Eve with a hoop-dance performance at the Conexus Arts Centre.
There will also be Chester Mcbain, Jeff Richards “Canada’s most dangerous mind” as well as a comedian.
Over at the Science Centre there will be tobogganing and snow shoeing, and skating and wagon rides at the Wascana Centre.
The day wraps up with a fireworks display at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Conexus Arts Centre.
There will also be free bus services between the venues all afternoon.
Mayor Michael Fougere hopes everyone will come out, enjoy the day and celebrate the new year along with Canada’s birthday.
“We hope people will come out and celebrate, it’s going to be a nice day for winter with lots of things to celebrate, its a great way to celebrate the new year and Canada’s birthday, so come on out and have a lot of fun.”
