With the province’s new impaired driving laws kicking in within hours, Birmingham’s Vodka and Ale House is getting a head start in helping people find safe and sober rides home.
The locally-owned pub in Regina’s east end has launched a safe ride service that takes their customers home after a night of drinking.
Chad Zipchian owns Birmingham’s and said it’s free and easy to use the service.
To get a ride home, customers just have to put their name and phone numbers on the list, along with the time they’d like to leave.
The driver will then call the customer when they are parked outside and ready to go.
Zipchian says they have plans to expand the safe ride service to their Saskatoon location in the new year.
Right now, in Regina, the service is available from Thursday through Saturday nights, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
