This morning I am kicking off my fourth consecutive four day work week. It’s been a nice run, but like the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. That’s too bad. A guy could get used to these!
New Year’s Eve was rather uneventful. My wife and I spent time over at her cousin’s house. We played some games, had some drinks, and enjoyed some good food. It wasn’t a late one. My wife’s cousin wasn’t feeling well and my wife was driving, so she didn’t drink anything at all. We were home by 10! I remember sitting at the table saying to myself, “So, this is how the old people do it!” Things sure do change as the years pile on.
Yesterday on TV I saw one of the worst commercials I’ve seen in quite a while. It featured Curt Browning skating around a rink singing the virtues of the Chip Reverse Mortgage. That was the worst commercial I’d seen since the Tim Hortons ads where people save Tim Horton coffee cups from special occasions. Remember those? Pretty lame.
And finally, when do we stop greeting people with “Happy New Year?” I know this morning at work everyone will probably be saying that to each other. How about if I run into someone I haven’t seen for a while at the grocery store come the end of the week. Do I still wish that person a Happy New Year, or will it be a little late for that? I guess I’ll just keep on saying it until I get funny looks from people.
So, to all those reading this blog, Happy New Year! That’ll be the last time I mention that in this forum, until next year!
