Hometown Hockey comes to Saskatchewan this weekend as it stops in Moose Jaw.
The tour is something that has been done since Sportsnet received the NHL rights as their Sunday night broadcasts originate from someplace in Canada with the host city being profiled with a variety of stories.
Starting Saturday at noon and running until late Sunday night, there will be many interactive displays including one where those 16 and under get a Scotiabank Hockey Club jersey.
Local Scotiabank spokesperson Jennifer Mintenko says NHL alumni Tiger Williams and Dave Schultz will be making appearances on the weekend with Scotiabank also providing a 15-thousand dollar cheque to Moose Jaw Minor Hockey.
Mintenko says “It’s a fantastic way to give back to our community and help out many young hockey players who someday might be an NHL’er.”
The highlight of the weekend will be Sunday night when hosts Ron McLean and Tara Slone will broadcast a 30 minute pre-game show from the corner of Main Street and River Street along with hosting intermission features and a post-game show as the Edmonton Oilers meet the Senators in Ottawa.
That show will start with a flyover from the CFB Snowbirds who are based at 15 Wing Moose Jaw
