Former Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Jeff Knox Jr. has signed with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The football club announced Saturday morning via email that they released Knox, stating he planned to “pursue an NFL opportunity.”
Knox signed with the Green and White in May 2015.
He has picked up 179 defensive tackles, 30 special teams tackles, one interception and one quarterback sack in 35 regular season games.
Knox was named the Riders Most Outstanding Player, Most Outstanding Defensive Player, and Most Outstanding Rookie after setting a single season franchise record with 114 defensive tackles in 2015.
He was scheduled to be a free agent Feb. 14.
