It was a five-million dollar win, four months in the making.
Saskatoon’s Curtis Mooney purchased the winning Lotto 6/49 ticket for the August 31st draw, but Mooney says he has a bad habit of not checking his lottery tickets.
On December 30th, Mooney’s father heard that the winning ticket hadn’t been claimed, and asked Mooney if he had his ticket still with him. Mooney said he did, but wanted to wait until the next day before he checked.
The next morning, when he and his father were up, Mooney says he went into his room to get on another T-shirt, “and he’s at the computer, and I’m pulling my T-shirt on and I said, “What?”, and he’s like ‘Curtis, you just won 5 million dollars!'”
Mooney says he plans to share some of his winnings with his family, but says he doesn’t plan to make any major changes in his life.
When asked about his age, Mooney said he’s “45 and single, but not for long, I don’t think”.
