A Women’s March was held in Regina Saturday morning in support of the political rally taking place in Washington, D.C.
People of every age, gender and background gathered at Regina’s Tangerine Food Bar to walk to the provincial legislature to promote women’s rights, immigration reform, LGBTQ rights, and to address racial inequities, along with both environmental and worker’s issues.
Carla Harris walked in the march and said, while it was triggered by U.S. President Donald Trump’s inauguration, the real goal is to raise awareness about more important things.
“(The march) is a good reminder to everyone that we are all equal and valuable people, and we have goals that we can claim together,” explained Harris. “We can all decide together that these are the priorities and that we all want to stand for each other.”
This Women’s March is one of more than 30 being held around the country.
