SaskTel is reminding their 35,000 customers still using devices on the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network that they will need to upgrade their devices before July 5.
The crown corporation made the announcement last summer saying the aging network has become obsolete, difficult to source and costly to repair.
Starting July 5, devices operating on the CDMA network will no longer function.
Michelle Englot, SaskTel director of external communications, says they will be letting customers know if their device is one that will be affected; however, she says customers can check online to see if they have a CDMA device.
She says SaskTel will be transitioning existing CDMA customers to its 4G and 4G LTE networks, which offers faster speeds and broader coverage.
