A 48-year old man from McLean, Sask. will stand trial for the death of Saskatchewan Party staffer Lisa Strang.
John Strang was arrested and charged in August 2015 –he apparently was in a relationship with the McLean-area woman.
47-year old Lisa Strang was found dead in her home two days before John Strang’s arrest.
A preliminary hearing was set to start Monday, but the case now will go directly to trial.
Lisa Strang was one of the Sask. Party’s the party’s longest-serving employees, having worked for the party for 11 years.
Her death stunned the party and Premier Wall paid tribute to her in the Legislature as well as through social media.
“It is with sadness I write to you today to let you know of the passing of our friend and colleague Lisa Strang,” Wall said in a post on the Saskatchewan Party Facebook page.
“She was a dedicated member of our team and to many of you she is an amazing source of information and guidance,” Wall said. “Although the details of her passing are still yet unclear, Lisa’s passing has left a hole in our Saskatchewan Party family.”
A trial date has not been set.
