Courtney Daniels, a member of the Los Angeles Kings Ice Crew, was preparing for the NHL All-Star Game. Her role would include shoveling the ice during media timeouts. It something she’s done during Kings home games for the last two seasons.
“They were like, ‘Fifth Harmony just dropped out. We need you to sing the national anthem.’ And I was like, ‘What is going on? What is happening?’”
Just 13 minutes later, she walked out to the ice, with the PA announcer telling the crowd that instead of pop stars Fifth Harmony singing the national anthem, it would be Courtney Daniels.
And she NAILED IT!

This wasn’t her first time singing an anthem, but it was only her third. Daniels had sang “O Canada” at a previous Kings game, but had time to prepare for it. Earlier in the month she performed the “Star Spangled Banner” at an AHL Ontario Reign game.
It’s safe to say this is the biggest crowd she’s sung in front of. Both at the sold-out Staples Centre and on TV screens across North America.
