Saskatchewan Mounties say there haven’t been any complaints over the past few weeks of refugees crossing into the province anywhere other than a port of entry.
The news release comes after borrder officials report more than 40 people illegally crossed the border in Quebec this past weekend claiming refugee status with another 21 doing the same thing in Manitoba.
The release states the issue is of great concern to the RCMP and they are working with partners to determine the extent of the issue. They are also encouraging anyone observing suspicious or illegal activity along the US border to report it immediately to their local detachment.
There are 12 border crossings in Saskatchewan with six taking people into Montana and six taking people into North Dakota with the Canadian Border Services Agency being responsible for border security at all points of entry.
