Everything is a go for the Waskimo winter festival on Wascana Lake this Family Day Monday.
Waskimo spokesperson Jim Aho said engineers have tested the ice and found there to be 30 inches of solid ice across the east side of Wascana Lake, where most of the outdoor activities will take place.
He said only two cancellations have been made because of the warm weather: the cross-country skiing and the fat bike races, due to the lack of snow.
However, Aho said all other events are still on.
The indoor Children’s Carnival starts at 1 p.m. inside the Conexus Arts Centre and is $8 at the door.
On the Wascana Lake ice, east of the Broad Street bridge, several events will be held all day — including Harvard Broadcasting Shinny, which takes place at 3 p.m.
Aho reminds people to wear waterproof boots or shoes if planning to go out on the lake, since the warm temperatures have made the surface slushy and equally as icy.
Free parking is available at the Conexus Arts Centre.
Waskimo runs until 5 p.m.
