Prince Albert police and a provincial government-appointed independent observer are investigating after a man in Stony Rapids disappeared when fleeing RCMP early Saturday morning.
Mounties say it happened around 5:15 a.m., officers were called to a complaint at a home in Stony Rapids. When members arrived, the man fled police on-foot.
In a news release, RCMP said the man ended up at a body of water, where they believe he drowned.
RCMP have requested the Prince Albert Police Service conduct an independent, external investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident, along with an independent observer appointed by the Ministry of Justice.
According to RCMP, the recovery efforts continue.
