Moose Jaw’s mayor is campaigning for his city to be considered as home base for the Saskatchewan Health Authority once it gets up and running.
Mayor Fraser Tolmie has heard from many who say that head office will likely be headquartered in Regina or Saskatoon; however, he believes the friendly city is the prime location.
Tolmie feels with the community less than an hour from Regina and about two hours from Saskatoon, along with the new Wigmore Hospital, there are many reasons why Moose Jaw should be home to Saskatchewan Health Authority headquarters.
“We’ve got the space, there’s lots of opportunity,” explained Tolmie. “We already have provincial organizations with satellite offices here, and this would just fit very well with the city.”
Tolmie says he’s discussed the idea with Moose Jaw’s two SaskParty MLAs, and that he will continue to lobby for the city in this endeavour.
