Yesterday morning I dropped into the local hardware store to grab a rawhide bone for Max. The store is actually less of a hardware store and more of a meeting place and a local gossip shop. The Jeworski family has owned that store for decades and everyone in the neighbourhood knows them. People will come in, grab a coffee, and stay for hours, shooting the proverbial you-know-what.
After I grabbed the bone for Max, Dave and I decided we’d get together this week for breakfast. His girlfriend owns a little café/bistro on the corner of Albert and 13th Ave. and that’s where we go to have a bite in the morning. “Hey, she serves all day breakfast now” Dave told me. Wow. This all day breakfast is quite the thing nowadays. McDonald’s just started serving it’s all day breakfast last week!
I do love an Egg McMuffin as much as the next guy. I just don’t know if I’d order one at 3 o’clock on a Tuesday afternoon. My mind automatically tells me that breakfast is no longer an option after a certain time of day. It’s not that I don’t like eating breakfast food through the day, it’s just that it doesn’t happen very often.
The odd time my wife and I will have a breakfast meal for supper. Sometimes I’ll make bacon and eggs for supper and there are other times when we get a craving for French toast and sausages smothered in syrup. It’s just a nice change. I don’t think I’ll be putting up a sign on the front door stating that I’ll be cooking up breakfast all day long though.
Darn it. All this talk about breakfast has got me hungry. Maybe I’ll stop by the grocery store on the way home and buy some bacon and eggs.
Looks like it’s breakfast for supper tonight in the Lewis household.
