The City of Regina says it is making ‘open government’ easier with a new-look website.
“We’re committed to open, accountable and transparent government practices by making City information more readily available to the public,” said Mayor Michael Fougere.
“The Open Data website has improved functionality and is now more mobile friendly.”
Jim Nicol, Chief Legislative Officer, said the upgrade replaces older technology and makes it easier for the public to search for City information any hour of the day.
He said the City responds to thousands of requests for information each year.
The public can also access Freedom of Information requests, he said, and because personal and confidential information is removed from the documents before posting, privacy and confidentiality are protected.
The City was the first public institution in Saskatchewan to launch this type of program.
